THINGS TO SEE & DO
SCENERY: Yorkshire's idyllic scenery has seen it assume the moniker of 'God's own country'. Beech Farm is located on the southern edge of the North York Moors National Park but the beauty is not limited to that. Travel east to reach the beautiful sandy beaches and Heritage Coast. To the west lie the Yorkshire Dales and to the south is the Howardian Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
CYCLING: Yorkshire is fast gaining an international reputation for high quality cycling. With quiet, well-maintained roads, challenging hills and stunning scenery, this reputation is entirely justified. We cater for cyclists with secure bike storage, a workshop and the possibilities of arranging transport/supported rides and/or bicycle rental.
WALKING: We're not overstating it when we say that this really is a haven for walkers. The Moors start a couple of miles up the road but with cliff-top walks along the coast, the Dales and the Howardian Hills all nearby, you truly are spoilt for choice. And if you're feeling incredibly energetic, the 192-mile coast to coast which crosses the Moors starts/ends at Robin Hood's Bay, 45 minutes to the North East of Beech Farm.
TOWNS & VILLAGES: While our location is truly rural, within easy reach are numerous famous towns and villages. Pickering is the closest town (3 miles) with its steam railway through the Moors to Whitby. Historic York, fashionable Harrogate, 'foodie' Malton, the stereotypically British seaside resort of Scarborough and quaint market towns like Helmsley are all nearby. 'Chocolate box' English countryside villages are also in abundance.
HERITAGE & CULTURE: Across Yorkshire there are an astonishing 16 National Trust properties and 32 English Heritage sites - more than in any other county. Few cities anywhere in the world can boast the history of York. In addition to its Minster, York is home to the National Railway Museum and Jorvik Viking Centre and other local museums to Beech Farm include Eden Camp, the Beck Isle Museum, and the Captain Cook Museum.
CHILDREN'S FUN: There are also plenty of activities for the children in the vicinity too. The Flamingo Land theme park and zoo (with rides for all ages) is a mere 15 minutes away, the huge Alpamare Water Park has recently opened in Scarborough, and there's a Go Ape outdoor adventure centre in Dalby Forest. There are also local stables offering horse-riding to all abilities.
