You have a wonderful setup here, and I can see why people keep coming back.

Why choose a cottage at Beech Farm?

Award winning "4 Star" cottages.  The cottages have won several awards for excellence from both the Yorkshire & English Tourist Boards, including winning the Yorkshire Holiday Cottage of the Year Award four times.  This gives you the peace of mind to know that you will be coming to high quality, well equipped, clean, fresh cottages.

The personal commitment of the owners, Pat & Rooney.  It will not be a case of just collecting a key on arrival.  We will welcome you, show you into your cottage and are available during your stay to deal with any queries or problems.  Your cottage will be ready for you, warm, welcoming, fresh flowers, a home made cake etc.  You will be booking direct with the owners not through an Agency.

A quiet village location on the edge of the National Park at the entrance to Rosedale.  Not on a main road.  Other complexes in the area are on the main A170.  Beech Farm Cottages are in the quiet village of Wrelton.  The village does not have any shops but it does have a pub, the Buck Inn, which also serves meals.

Easy access to the attractions & facilities of the area.  Although the cottages are in a secluded location in a quiet village off the main road, our visitors appreciate they are not stuck in a remote location in the middle of a forest or the moors.  Our visitors have easy access to the market towns & villages of the area and to the Moors & forests of the National Park, Coast, York, Flamingo Land, Castle Howard etc.  The major supermarkets even deliver to the cottages.

A modern heated indoor swimming pool (10 metres long and up to 2 metres deep), whirlpool spa & sauna.  No extra charge.  Open all year round.  Water temperature 28-29OC and air temperature around 30OC.  A pleasant facility to have on site which means you do not always have to go out to find something to do. (Beware: Some other cottage complexes around Pickering advertise "an indoor pool" but then if you read their small print it refers to the public baths in Pickering a few minutes walk away!  Our pool is on site and exclusive to our visitors)

Family friendly.  We are family friendly providing all you would need for young children on holiday - "cottages4you" have included us in their Baby & Toddler friendly cottage selection.  Older children enjoy our pool, animals, play area in the paddock.  The area is full of activities for young & old.  We often receive bookings from extended families celebrating birthdays & anniversaries.

Comfort all the year round with central heating and double glazing and coal effect gas fires and stoves in the living rooms.  No additional costs for heating electricity or use of pool.
TV's, DVD players, wi-fi and Freeview.

Gardens, Terrace, Paddock & Play area.  In the grounds of Beech Farm Cottages we have a terrace in front of swimming pool, a small walled garden with a Koi pond, barbecue areas, and Paddock with a new enlarged children's play area.  We also have a 3 acre field with two Llamas (Llucy & Mimi), ducks, chickens.

Direct access to fields and country walks.
There are two public footpaths out of the village.  One behind our cottages goes to Sinnington and the other is a lovely walk through a wooded valley.  Also the the start of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park (500 square miles of moors and dales) is only 2 miles from the cottages.

A wealth of local attractions & activities for all the family are a short drive from Beech Farm Cottages :- the Moors National Park, Pickering's steam railway, Dalby & Cropton Forests, the Heritage coast and fishing villages like Staithes & Robin Hoods Bay, Castle Howard, the historic city of York, Rievaulx & Whitby Abbeys, fishing, golf, horseriding etc.

Low rainfall.  Being in the east of the country the Vale of Pickering benefits from having one of the lowest rainfalls in Britain.  Official Meteorological Office figures confirm that Pickering has, for instance, less rain than Bournemouth & Torquay, much less than Devon & Wales and only half the rainfall of the Lake District & Peak District.

Less hassle & stress than going abroad. None of the problems associated with air travel - early starts, check-in queues, security checks, technical problems, cramped seating, deep vein thrombosis, turbulence, delays, airport taxes etc, etc.  No jet-lag.  No danger of malaria, cholera, typhoid, foreign stomach bugs etc.  Wrelton & North Yorkshire are not high risk areas for terrorist attacks, earthquakes, tsunamis, forest fires etc.  The climate is not extreme.  You will not be in danger of a serious snake or spider bites, swarms of jellyfish, attack by a shark & other dangerous creatures!   No foreign currency required..  A low carbon footprint holiday.

You won't be plagued by Midges - unlike Scotland.  Many people who go to Scotland in summer vow never to return there because of the swarms of biting midges.  You will not have that problem in North Yorkshire.

Testimonials.  These are some visitors :

Just a quick note to say we really enjoyed staying at Beech Farm last week, the cottage was very comfortable. Thanks too for the lovely cake you left for us! We hope to be able to come again at some point in the future.

I would just lie to say how much we all enjoyed our weekend stay at the cottages, everything worked out just great.
The weather was perfect for our BBQ on the Friday night, thank you for organising that and the weekend went without a hitch.
The cottages have everything required for a relaxing time and the pool was an added bonus. I hope we get a chance to visit again soon, but just the two of us rather than the 20 people we had this weekend. Many thanks

What a lovely time we had in beautiful Shepherd’s lodge. A perfect place for a family get together....... We found the cottage extremely clean & very comfortable and the grandchildren loved the swimming pool. We will certainly recommend the cottages to our family & friends and hope to come back ourselves sometime in the future

We had a wonderful week and are very much missing the beautiful setting this morning. Our little girl was disappointed we didn’t have any llamas and chickens in the garden at home, nor a pool. The cottage was great. We’ll certainly be back!

We had such a lovely time at the Farmhouse with our family and the boys loved it. We will definitely be recommending you to friends.

Just wanted to say how much we enjoyed our stay at Beech Farm Cottages. The cottage was ideal and it provided everything we expected, and more, for a relaxing holiday. Special thank you for the cake provided on our arrival - a wonderful surprise and a great way to start our week away - and for your very warm welcome. Loved the Yorkshire Moors and if we get a chance we would love to return.
